Actually, do you have any idea where I can find instructions on how to make a hippolande (I think that's how it's spelled)? I'm having a hard time finding anything about them, and I think they're lovely.

There are two main methods for a houppelande, the 'just like a big dress' one, and some kind of circular plan. They're the two that I know of anyway.
if you have heaps of fabric this pattern [link] makes a great one- just watch it can eat up fabric!
