Description
Made for Redlands Heritage Festival in may of 2011. This was my first attempt at a 1850s dress. I need to make a few changes to the fit of the bodice. I had made beautiful undersleeves but I forgot them on the day! Ignore the bonnet; it was a make-do as my form didn’t arrive til three days after the event.
Patterns used were:
The crinoline: Truly Victorian’s TV141
The chemise and Draws: Laughing Moon’s LM100
Corset: Laughing Moon’s Dore corset LM100 altered to fit.
Bodice: Truly Victorian’s TV440 altered to fit but needs to be re-altered
Skirt and flounced petticoat: Self pattered.
Bonnet: Self patterned but will be changing
Undersleeves (not pictured): TV140.
It was all handsewn except the long skirt seem. The fabric was pre-embroidered by machine but I couldn’t pass it up Piping is self made (and yes, hand sewn).
This was made at what I consider a costuming standard, not a re-enactment standard.

Wow, this is great! Considering it's your first attempt at 1850s it's awesome! You're so meticulous, I love the details and how you care about everything! I'm researching in order to sew my first 1850s too ^^
