Description

Me in my outfit.

I have been working on a mix and match steampunk outfit with a few garments that can be mixed and matched for various looks.

I wore two combinations of this to the Brisbane supernova in March 2011.
This was what I wore on the Saturday.
Patterns from the skin out:
Underdress: purchased.
Corset: Laughing Moon’s Dore corset, altered to fit (LM100)
Bustle: Truly Victorian’s TV101
Skirt: Truly Victorian’s TV201 As a base. I added the self pleated panel into the design (it is supposed to look like an underskirt) and the bars over it to hold the fake slit in the overskirt closed.
Apron: Truly Victorian’s TV208 altered slightly (added pleating to the front panel). Also in this picture I’ve hitched one of the sides up to show off the detailing in the skirt. This is optional, I can also wear this unhitched. I’ve added the pleating on and the apron is partially covered in coin charms. I hope to cover the entire apron in coin charms eventually!
Fake bodice panel: (partially obscured, see link below for better picture) self patterned. This attaches to the corset with hooks on the panel and rings down the corset. The buttons are not functional. The straps are sewn onto the back of the corset when I want to wear the fake bodice panel. I designed this so I could wear my corset under my skirts (sometimes I wear multiple skirts and have fabric layers in the double digits under my corset which I don’t like!) but still have a long bodice line. Also designed to slim the wait visually.
Hat: I bought the hat blank (straw) and decorated. Jewellery and accessories were put together from pieces I bought.

Everything I made was handsewn, including the corset.
